Here is the recipe for Hot and Sour Soup. Ingredients are tofu, sliced mushrooms, bamboo shoot strips, wood ear and dried lily flowers (optional).
- Slice tofu into thin strips about an inch long.
- Soak wood ear for 10-15 minutes.
- If using mushrooms cut them into slices.
- Heat water in a wok.
- Add bamboo shoot strips, wood ear, and mushroom.
- When the water comes to a boil add soy sauce to get some color.
- After a minute to two remove froth and add tofu slices.
- Add salt and white pepper according to taste.
- Add corn starch to get desired consistency.
- Cook for a few minutes until all ingredients are sufficiently cooked to desired softness, especially the wood ear.
- Add a little bit of vinegar and sesame oil. Hot and Sour soup is ready.
