Hot and Sour Soup

Here is the recipe for Hot and Sour Soup. Ingredients are tofu, sliced mushrooms, bamboo shoot strips, wood ear and dried lily flowers (optional).

 

  1. Slice tofu into thin strips about an inch long.
  2. Soak wood ear for 10-15 minutes.
  3. If using mushrooms cut them into slices.
  4. Heat water in a wok.
  5. Add bamboo shoot strips, wood ear, and mushroom.
  6. When the water comes to a boil add soy sauce to get some color.
  7. After a minute to two remove froth and add tofu slices.
  8. Add salt and white pepper according to taste.
  9. Add corn starch to get desired consistency.
  10. Cook for a few minutes until all ingredients are sufficiently cooked to desired softness, especially the wood ear.
  11. Add a little bit of vinegar and sesame oil. Hot and Sour soup is ready.
